Wat de fok, ouwe: het bizarre leven van DJ Dano

Wat de fok, ouwe: het bizarre leven van DJ Dano

Author(s): Arne van Terphoven
Date: 2016
Description:
DJ Dano was one of the most famous DJs in the 1990s. He was the king of the biggest and most extreme youth culture the Netherlands has ever known: gabber. But with success also came unrest and fear. At the peak of his fame, he sometimes dared not go on stage and hid in the parking lot. He chased his fortune through booze, cocaine, vacations and hookers. In What the fuck, old man Dano tells the whole story for the first time. About illegal raves in sheds and tunnels, Thunderdome, the infamous tax assessment that floored him artistically, the fall of the gabber in 1999 and the heady period that followed - during which Dano ended up on the streets and eventually went to work as a construction worker. What the fuck, ouwe is a story about one of the architects of the world-leading dance nation that Holland now is. A story about never giving up and going for it every day. A story like Dano's music: hard, fast, unbridled and at times unbelievable. In collaboration with, among others, The Prophet, Jeroen Flamman, Duncan Stutterheim, Gizmo, Rob Gee, Rocco Veenboer (Awakenings), Dylan Hermelijn, Fred Berkhout (Mokum), Ilja Reiman (Multigroove) and others.
